Domos Guadalupe

The challenge

On the island of Guadeloupe, Albioma operates the Le Moule thermal biomass plant which generates 31% of the electricity available on the island. Due to the customer's effort to improve the plant's capabilities, building a dome was the best option for storing and preserving wood pellets, so Albioma hired DOMINION for the project.

DOMINION's +

DOMINION is an expert in all types of storage facilities and particularly in dome technology which is the most efficient one for the storage and preservation of temperature and humidity sensitive bulk materials.

In this case, a 19,990 m³, 32m high and 35m diameter reinforced concrete dome was designed and built. The work included all the engineering, civil works, supply and mechanical assembly services.

Results

Once completed, the advanced mechanical and pneumatic system that incorporates the dome allows a pellet storage ratio of 390 t/h and a delivery rate of 325 t/h, greatly improving the previous capacity of the plant.
