The Challenge
DOMINION's main challenge was to adapt these facilities to the best safety and environmental practices, as well as to optimize the efficiency of the process. All this, in a particularly demanding and delicate operational context, since all the work had to be carried out without interrupting the service at any time.
DOMINION's intervention focused on two main areas: On the one hand, infrastructure preparation for the provision of wet-slop treatment services, providing the plant with all the necessary means to carry out this work safely and efficiently. These works included the design and execution of the civil works required for the development of this activity, as well as the utilities required for our process, including the installation of pipes, supports, trays and equipment cabling.
On the other hand, revamping of our ATEX 3-phase centrifuge unit has significantly increased the plant's treatment capacity, guaranteeing separation quality that allows the client to reuse the recovered hydrocarbon by introducing it into the refinery's atmospheric distillation stage. Along with this new unit, new product storage equipment was installed to minimise vapour emissions and ensure safe operation through the use of redundant metering equipment. All the equipment has ATEX certificates in accordance with the area classification of the work area and is continuously monitored from the plant's control room.
DOMINION's +
DOMINION's team, drawing on its extensive experience and know-how, has managed to maintain production while upgrading the plant, reducing operational risks and increasing processing capacity and efficiency.
Results
The plant is fully operational and modernized. The risks inherent in this type of oily waste management activity have been drastically reduced and its management has been simplified and its efficiency and capacity increased.
Thanks to the use of this cutting-edge separation and storage technology, emissions have been minimized, and there has been a notable improvement in the quality and quantity of product recovered, making the process more sustainable and circular in economic terms.
With this project, in addition to adapting to the environmental and safety requirements of our client, we have improved the efficiency of the process, reducing emissions and making it more sustainable.
