Chimney Design & Engineering
Complex structural engineering requirements such as extreme wind and earthquake loads, excessive temperatures and highly corrosive exhaust gases must all be considered when designing a chimney. Whether for a wet stack or bypass operations, we select the optimal chimney design for your needs including reinforced concrete, glass fiber reinforced plastic, steel or masonry, and with one or more flues. Various materials for internal flues are used including ceramics, glass fiber reinforced plastics or steel/alloy grades.
We select from the extensive range of lining options that can withstand even the most complex operating conditions for compliance with the plant requirements including metallic cladding, flake glass epoxy coatings, borosilicate glass and many more. The choice of materials and design takes into consideration all project challenges.

Chimney Construction
Concrete chimneys can be designed and constructed using one of two methods: slipform or jumpform. Slipform construction is suitable for very tall chimneys or chimneys with extremely large diameters, and also for projects with tight deadlines to meet. Jumpform is based on more conventional concrete formwork techniques, to build the windshield in incremental stages. We use the very latest technology to ensure that this jumpform system is an extremely efficient construction method. Another of the key factors in the construction of structures of this type are the linings and ducts, another area in which we are experts.

Regular chimney inspections are essential to maintain them in correct operating and safety conditions. An assessment is also required to determine the possibility of lengthening the useful life of the chimney, whether it can be upgraded or used for another purpose, or whether it needs to be demolished or dismantled.
