Dome Design & Engineering

Our team of dome structure specialists has completed over 150 projects worldwide, including North America, South America, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. Developed to enhance storage conditions, dome technology relies on waterproofing with a PVC membrane that forms the initial shape and exterior covering, combined with the application of polyurethane foam across the entire interior surface of the dome, ensuring perfect thermal insulation.

Dome Construction

A bulk storage dome is based on a large column-free structure capable of storing up to 100,000 tons of material in a single space. The execution timelines for such Dome solutions are shorter compared to other similar storage solutions. The primary distinction lies in the quantity of material stored. Flat storage solutions and metal domes merely cover the material and are generally not designed to withstand the pressure generated by the material.

Dome Construction Process:

  • Construction using conventional ring foundation methods
  • Anchoring the membrane to the ring foundation. The membrane is prefabricated to the dimensions of the final structure and prepared for subsequent inflation.
  • Inflating the membrane and stabilizing the internal pressure.
  • Applying polyurethane foam to the interior of the membrane.
  • Securing the reinforcement along the structure's walls using metal tabs embedded in the foam.
  • Applying shotcrete onto the reinforcement.
  • Once the reinforcement is fully encased in concrete, the dome is ventilated for four days, followed by the installation of doors and windows in the structure.
