2023 has been the year of generative artificial intelligence. We are, without a doubt, facing a disruptive technology called to modify our business processes and help us be more efficient.
The applications are many and, to a large extent, we are still discovering them. The most obvious are those linked to the generation of texts, images and videos, code development, the interaction with clients and employees or the optimization of routine tasks (processing large volumes of information, proposing responses to emails, generation of reports, meeting minutes, etc.).
But we are beginning to sense a relevant potential for other tasks such as industrial operation and maintenance, where it can be an excellent accelerator. Particularly noteworthy are the possibilities derived from its integration with the metaverse and digital twins to substantially shorten product and service development processes through infinite simulations in safe environments that can reproduce all types of scenarios.
Generative AI is powerful and useful, but it is still a mirror, a very powerful one, which only generates something new for us from what we have already initially provided. That is why we must approach it as what it is: a tool at the service of people and their development.
People have unique skills and talents that cannot be reproduced by technology, but, on the contrary, will be enhanced once we integrate it and free ourselves from those tasks in which we do not add value. Let us be clear that AI will not be the one that takes away our jobs, but that we will be surpassed by those people who know how to turn it into their ally.
