We drive the energy transition with the electrification of public transport in Barcelona

18 / 02 / 2025

The maintenance of electric charging infrastructures in Barcelona reinforces our commitment to sustainable mobility and the energy transition.

In September 2024, DOMINION was awarded a major contract with Transports de Barcelona S.A., the leading public transport operator in the Barcelona Metropolitan Area. This agreement involves the maintenance of electric bus charging infrastructure at the Triangle and Zona Franca depots, strengthening our role in the electrification of public transport in the city.

This new contract adds to the one DOMINION has held since 2022, related to the maintenance of the charging infrastructure for the urban lines H16, H12, and V15, which includes opportunity charging points and a total installed capacity of over 5 MW. With this new award, DOMINION ensures the proper functioning of key systems for the electrification of the city's urban bus fleet, contributing to the city's goal of reducing emissions and improving air quality.

The Triangle and Zona Franca depots, which manage a significant portion of the city's bus fleet, are crucial in this ecosystem. At the Zona Franca depot, an installed capacity of 6 MW for Overnight charging points will be maintained, while at the Triangle depot, the capacity will increase from 14 MW to 22.5 MW with the addition of 8.5 MW this year.

This project reaffirms our commitment to electric mobility, contributing to the improvement of urban infrastructure and moving towards cleaner and more efficient transport for Barcelona.
