Boosting education in Senegal: Our partnership with the Xaley Foundation

For the past four years, DOMINION has maintained a collaboration with Xaley Foundation as part of its efforts to fund projects that promote education. Specifically, Fundación Xaley’s initiatives aim to ensure access to education in Senegal, with a special focus on girls, who face additional barriers to continuing their studies. Xaley addresses the main causes of school dropout in a comprehensive manner, tackling issues such as lack of civil registry enrollment, financial difficulties, and social and cultural challenges that prevent many girls from pursuing their education.

Currently, DOMINION supports two of the foundation’s ongoing initiatives. The first takes place in Mbour, where actions have already been implemented to ensure that children are registered in the civil registry and to provide remedial classes for those at risk of dropping out of school. This project has gained strong momentum and is yielding positive results. The second initiative, which has just begun its activities, is located in the Casamance region in the south of the country, specifically in the municipality of Elinquin. In November 2024, a key meeting was held between Xaley’s leadership and local authorities, including the school principal and municipal representatives, to ensure the successful implementation of activities in this community.

Fundación Xaley’s work goes beyond academic support; it also includes education on reproductive and sexual health, particularly for girls. Many teenagers drop out of school due to early pregnancy, the unequal distribution of household responsibilities, and child marriage. Xaley also works to raise awareness within communities to ensure that all children are registered in the civil registry, a crucial step for them to access formal education.

Aligned with its commitment to education, DOMINION continues to fund these essential projects. The collaboration with Fundación Xaley seeks to improve educational opportunities, not only in the academic sphere but also in the social and cultural aspects, providing a supportive environment for children in Senegal and helping to create a brighter future for them.
