The challenge
To build a biomass plant in the Argentinian region of Corrientes with the objective of improving the energy deficit in the area and boosting its economic and industrial development in a sustainable way, by recycling the organic waste generated by local sawmills.
DOMINION's +
To have developed an end-to-end project from the design to the commissioning of the infrastructure, and also provide the subsequent operation and maintenance services. The implementation of planning and terrain analysis technologies and our previous experience in similar works was key for the success of the project, since geographic and meteorological difficulties prevented the use of conventional construction methods.
Results
The 18 MW biomass plant has been in operation since October 2020 and has become a fundamental pillar in the transformation of the region, boosting its economy and helping to transition towards a more sustainable energy model.
In its first year, it has produced a total of 123,000 MWh of energy, which means meeting the established goal by almost 120%. It has also obtained the ISO 14001 certification, an international standard that allows companies to demonstrate their commitment to protecting the environment through the management of environmental risks associated with their activity.
