The challenge

The main challenge in fibre laying projects is to efficiently manage field personnel and to coordinate the materials, equipment and permits they require to execute the project. The diverse range of scenarios, from cities to rural areas which are difficult to communicate with poses an additional challenge.

DOMINION's +

DOMINION's technological capabilities has meant that it has been able to develop management tools that maximise efficiency and guarantee the quality of the final result for these types of operations. At the same time, these platforms guarantee the profitability of this activity and ultimately contribute to making telecommunication services more affordable for everyone.

Results

Given these capabilities, DOMINION has been and continues to be one of the leading players in fibre laying in the country. Connections in Barcelona, Girona, Cádiz or Málaga, for example, were created by DOMINION.

Fiber deployed for Telco companies

Having no signal in the remote wilderness or at the bottom of a garage is a real problem for many of us today. 4G has taken over even the most neglected corners of our lives. But this reality was very different not that long ago. We lead out daily lives without a mobile phone and we were able to hold conversations without our electronic devices interrupting us.

DOMINION has experienced this entire technological process through its personnel and considers all of the connectivity achievements achieved in our lives as its own. Today 97% of the Spanish population has 4G access and 71% have access to fibre optics. These figures make it the European leader in this field. Only Japan and South Korea have a higher percentage of fibre optic connection at home in the OECD.

Along with 10 other companies, DOMINION has deployed an entire fibre optic network in various regions in Spain which operators such as Telefónica and Orange use to provide their telecommunication services. The project is still underway and the goal is still the same today: to create the widest possible access to fibre optic services.

To date, this project has lead to over 22 million homes gaining access to fibre optic services, reducing the digital gap between the countryside and cities. It has also lay the foundations for 5G, which will bring about a new social change like the one we have experienced over recent with the advent of high-speed browsing. What new developments will DOMINION be able to play a leading role in over the next decade?
