DOMINION is awarded with a 60 MW photovoltaic project in Ecuador

01 / 02 / 2023

It is the first project of this magnitude that we develop in Ecuador, after our extensive experience in the renewable energy sector in Latin America.

DOMINION's renewable energy area will expand its activity in Ecuador with the development of a 60MW photovoltaic solar project. This is one of the projects awarded by the Government of the country with a price of USD 66.98/MWh, the highest in the auction.

DOMINION, which created its renewable energy area in 2016, has become one of the leading private energy generators in Latin America, with solar, wind and biomass energy projects in Argentina, Mexico and the Dominican Republic.

DOMINION has become a reliable partner capable of playing a leading role in the sustainable energy transition of the region.

Although DOMINION currently manages the operation and maintenance of a 3.5MW plant in Ecuador, it is the first time that the company is going to develop a comprehensive project of this size in the country.

The company offers an end-to-end solution that includes everything from the financial structuring and initial technical analysis of projects to the subsequent operation and maintenance and -thanks to its associate BAS Projects Corporation-, asset ownership and long-term exploitation.

The Ministry of Energy and Mines (MEM) of Ecuador has awarded all the offers in the tender for the Non-Conventional Renewable Energy Block (ERNC I) for a total of 500 MW. These ten projects (photovoltaic, biomass and wind) will be located in different geographical areas of Ecuador and will cover the growth in electricity demand.

The Government's objective is to increase the weight of renewables in the country's energy generation from 3% to 15% in the coming years.
