The Basque Government's councilor Arantxa Tapia has supervised the implementation of this technology designed by Dominion to increase the safety of level crossings.
BEGICROSSING©, a solution based on intelligent artificial vision designed by Dominion, is already implemented in 6 level crossings of the Basque Railway Network. It’s a pioneering system, used for the first time in the world to increase railway safety.
Amorebieta, Asua-Erandio, Berriz, Muxika and Gernika are the localities where BEGICROSSING© has been implemented under the supervision of Basque Government's councilor Arantxa Tapia. This first stage will continue with the installation of six more level crossings during 2018.
BEGICROSSING©, part of Begirale products, is based on the use of vision and artificial intelligence technologies, which facilitates the early detection of incidents at railway level crossings. These incidents can be hazardous situations caused by an obstruction in the passageway or by the failure of one of the security elements of the level crossing infrastructure. It’s in these cases that the control center and the driver are alerted so that they can act quickly on the danger. The control center receiving real-time images and the driver thanks to the light signals and acoustic systems installed in the vicinity of the passages.
